Celebrate: Let’s Be Merry
Saturday, October 5, 2024
The American Chamber Chorale and Orchestra kick off our final season with uniquely American music. We take a fresh approach to great music we have presented previously, including some from our very first season! The program includes lively spirituals, great hymn arrangements, and music by Modern composers such as Eric Whitacre, Randall Thompson, Aaron Copland and more! There will be something for everyone in this concert so bring the whole family and invite your friends and neighbors!
Celebrate: Christmas Time Is Here!
Saturday, December 14, 2024
Celebrate the Christmas season with the American Chamber Chorale and Orchestra by candlelight in the beautifully decorated sanctuary at Salem. We’ve performed many beautiful Christmas carols by Sir John Rutter during our 23 seasons. Our last-ever December concert features a group of your favorite Rutter carols.
Also on the program: beloved traditional carols, new carols by modern composers, and Christmas classics featuring our Orchestra. We celebrate the hope Christmas brings with our tradition of Sharing the Light as all are invited to join in singing Silent Night.
Celebrate and Remember
Saturday, March 8, 2025
John Rutter’s Requiem is the centerpiece in this concert of remembrance. Modern American composers represented on this concert include Michael Trotta, Jake Runestadt, and Stephen Paulus. The orchestra plays Johann Sebastian Bach’s Concerto for Violin in A Minor featuring Concert Master, Lenora Anop, and Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber, arguably America’s first internationally acclaimed composer.
Celebrate: Light In the Darkness
Saturday, May 10, 2025
The American Chamber Chorale and Orchestra gave the St. Louis premiere of Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna (Light Eternal) during our fourth season, 2004-2005. It serves as the centerpiece of this concert of gratitude and celebration for Light in the darkness. Also on this program: Lauridsen’s setting of James Agee’s Sure On This Shining Night, Eriks Esenvald’s Stars, Eric Whitacre’s Water Night, O Lux Beatissima by Missouri composer Howard Helvey, and Frank Ligeti’s setting of St. Louis poet Sara Teasdale’s There Will Be Rest.
I hope the music we have presented over the years has brightened your life in some small way. It has brought great joy to all of us, the singers, players, and management of the American Chamber Chorale. As the ACC’s founder and Artistic Director, sharing the music has meant more to me than I can say. As inadequate as these words might be, I can only say thank you. Thank you so very much.
